Phantom Blade Zero: 300GB Preload Space, 145GB Install

Source status checked October 28, 2026.

Phantom Blade Zero’s PC preload calls for at least 300GB of free disk space, while the installed game is approximately 145GB. The larger figure describes the preload process, rather than the final installation size.

Why there are two storage figures

PC Gamer’s October 26 report attributes both figures to S-Game’s developer update. GamesRadar’s separate coverage reports the same distinction. The reports also state that an SSD is required.

Storage figureWhat it means
Approximately 145GBInstalled game size reported by the developer
At least 300GB freeSpace requested for the PC preload process
SSD requiredThe drive requirement reported with the update

As a planning example, a drive with 200GB free clears the reported installation size but falls below the preload guidance. Check free space before starting; do not assume that fitting the final files means the entire download and installation process will fit.

Check the drive you actually intend to use

  1. Find the SSD containing your chosen game-library folder.
  2. Check its available space, rather than the combined space across all your drives.
  3. Move or uninstall games you no longer need using your launcher’s library tools.
  4. Check the available space again before starting the preload.

Keep some capacity available for your other software and future downloads. Our advice is to avoid planning an upgrade around a single exact installation figure: patches and the rest of your library also need room.

Is a larger SSD worth considering?

If you repeatedly move games to make space, compare capacity options in our gaming SSD guide. A larger drive can make library management easier, but it does not resolve an unsupported CPU or graphics card.

Confirm your computer supports the drive format before buying. These links are capacity-shopping options, not claims that one drive has been benchmarked faster in Phantom Blade Zero.
