PC or Console for GTA 6? The 30-Second Decision Checklist

You don't need a 2000-word breakdown to make this call. Four questions, one answer.

Confirmed: No PC version of GTA 6 has been announced as of this writing. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, November 19, 2026, are confirmed.

The quick version

Rockstar hasn't announced a PC version of GTA 6. If you want to play at launch on November 19, 2026, a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S is currently the only confirmed path. Here's the decision checklist before you buy either one.

  • Want it guaranteed at launch? Buy console. No PC release date exists to wait for yet.
  • Willing to wait, possibly 6-18 months? Rockstar has ported every mainline GTA and Red Dead title to PC eventually, GTA V took roughly 18 months, GTA IV about 6. A PC version is likely, timing isn't confirmed.
  • Already own a capable gaming PC? Run our GTA 6 checker now, so you already know your upgrade path if and when a PC version is confirmed.
  • Don't own either yet? A console is the lower-cost entry point for guaranteed launch-day access, see our full console buying guide for PS5 vs Xbox specifics.
