GTA 6 PC FAQ
The questions we get asked most, answered directly, with links to the full breakdown for anything that needs more than a paragraph.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Not confirmed yet, but almost certainly eventually. Rockstar has ported every mainline GTA and Red Dead title to PC. No PC release date has been announced. See our full PC vs console breakdown.
When does GTA 6 come out?
November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC release date exists yet. Track it on our live countdown.
How much does GTA 6 cost?
$79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, confirmed for console. PC pricing hasn't been announced. See our full price breakdown.
What GPU do I need for GTA 6?
Our predicted minimum is an RTX 2060 or RX 6600. Predicted recommended is an RTX 4070 or RX 7800 XT. These are estimates, not official specs. See the full requirements hub and the recommended tier breakdown.
How big will GTA 6 be?
We predict roughly 130–160GB, based on Red Dead Redemption 2's ~150GB install size and GTA 6's larger, more detailed map. Full reasoning on our storage page.
Will GTA 6 support ray tracing and DLSS?
Very likely, based on trailer footage and industry-standard practice for 2026 AAA releases, but not officially confirmed. Details on our graphics tech page.
Will GTA 6 support mods on PC?
Likely for single-player content, based on Rockstar's decade-long tolerance of GTA V mods, though GTA Online-adjacent mods have historically been policed heavily. Full history on our mod support page.
Can my PC run GTA 6?
Use the free PC checker tool to compare your GPU, CPU, RAM and storage against predicted requirements, takes about 10 seconds.
Where will I be able to buy GTA 6 on PC?
Most likely the Rockstar Games Launcher plus Steam, possibly with an Epic Games Store timed exclusivity window. See our where-to-buy prediction.
Is an SSD required for GTA 6?
Not officially, but effectively yes. See our minimum requirements page for why an HDD is expected to cause serious stutter regardless of GPU/CPU.
Does GTA 6 have VR support?
No. Rockstar has not announced a VR mode for GTA 6. In fact, the game's own "Extended Look" trailer (August 27) includes a character wearing an Oculus Quest-style headset purely as a joke about people wearing VR headsets indoors, not actual VR gameplay. Treat any "GTA 6 VR" claims elsewhere as unfounded.
Are GTA 6 pre-orders open?
Yes, since June 25, 2026. Every edition pre-ordered before November 20, 2026 includes a free Vintage Vice City Pack (car, garage, outfits and a weapon finish). Digital pre-orders also add a month of GTA+ and a GTA$500,000 deposit. See our price page for the full breakdown.
Does the GTA 6 physical edition come with a disc?
No. Rockstar has confirmed physical copies contain a one-time, non-transferable download code instead of a disc.
Will GTA 6 run at 60fps?
Unconfirmed. Rockstar North co-director Rob Nelson said in an August 2026 interview that GTA 6 is targeting 30fps on all consoles and that a 60fps mode hasn't been decided. This is a developer statement, not an official press release. See our PS5 vs Xbox comparison for more.
Is GTA 6 coming to PS4 or Xbox One?
No. GTA 6 is confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, no last-generation console version has been announced.
Which console is best for GTA 6?
Either is fine, no platform-exclusive content is confirmed. PS5 (disc) is $150 cheaper than Xbox Series X, which ships with more usable storage (~802GB vs ~667GB). See our full comparison or the new console buying guide.
