GTA 6 Minimum Requirements

This is the floor, the specs where GTA 6 should launch and be playable, not where it'll look or feel great. If your PC is a few years old, start here.

Still unofficial: no PC version of GTA 6 has been announced. Numbers below are a researched prediction. See the full reasoning on the requirements hub.

Why the bar is this high

GTA 6 is built for PS5 and Xbox Series X first, both machines pack an 8-core Zen 2 CPU and an RDNA2 GPU comparable to an RX 6700. Games built around current-gen-only consoles (no last-gen fallback) tend to set noticeably higher PC minimums than cross-gen titles, because there's no lower bar to design down to. That's a real shift from GTA V, which also had to run on PS3/Xbox 360.

If your PC falls short

  • GPU is the usual bottleneck. A single GPU upgrade (e.g. into RTX 2060/RX 6600 territory) closes most of the gap for older systems.
  • 8GB RAM will likely not be enough. Budget for at least 16GB, it's cheap to add and increasingly a hard requirement, not a "recommended" nicety, in current-gen-only titles.
  • An HDD will hurt regardless of GPU/CPU. Rockstar's recent titles stream textures aggressively; a SATA SSD is the realistic minimum, NVMe is safer.

The three cheapest upgrades

In order of impact if your rig falls short of the predicted minimum above:

Graphics Card

Target RTX 2060 / RX 6600 or newer. This is almost always the bottleneck on a system built before 2021.

16GB RAM Kit

Still on 8GB? This is a $30–50 fix that removes an entire failure mode.

SATA/NVMe SSD

Still on a spinning HDD? Nothing else on this list matters until this is fixed. See our storage breakdown.
