Performance: what to expect
Rockstar North co-director Rob Nelson told a YouTuber in an August 2026 studio visit that GTA 6 is currently targeting 30fps on all consoles, including PS5 Pro, and that Rockstar hasn't decided whether a 60fps mode will ship at launch or later. This is an on-record developer statement in an interview, not a formal press release, so treat it as credible but not a locked-in final answer. If it holds, it breaks from the two-mode "Fidelity/Performance" pattern most current-gen-only AAA titles have settled into, and would mean Series S and Series X run the same target framerate, with Series X and PS5 Pro likely differentiating on resolution and visual detail instead.
PS5 Pro's extra GPU headroom (and PSSR upscaling) is confirmed for GTA 6 ("PS5 Pro Enhanced" per the PlayStation Store listing), though Rockstar hasn't detailed exactly what that entails. Expect it to show up as a sharper image or higher resolution at the same framerate rather than unlocking 60fps on its own.

PS5 (disc)
The safe default pick, best price-to-storage ratio of the full-power consoles, and DualSense's haptics are well-used in Rockstar's recent titles.
Xbox Series X
Most usable storage of any current console out of the box (~802GB), matters if you don't want to think about expansion cards right away.
PS5 Pro
Only worth the $250 premium over base PS5 if you have a 4K TV and care about image clarity more than saving for a storage upgrade.
