GTA 6 Recommended Requirements
This is the tier for people who don't want to compromise: 1440p, 60fps, high settings, without babysitting a settings menu. Here's what we predict it'll take.
Predicted recommended spec
| Component | Predicted recommended | Action |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 11 64-bit | |
| CPU | Intel Core i7-12700 or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X (8-core, released within the last ~4 years) | Compare CPUs → |
| GPU | NVIDIA RTX 4070 or AMD RX 7800 XT (12GB+ VRAM) | See GPU options → |
| RAM | 16–32 GB | Shop RAM → |
| Storage | ~150 GB free, NVMe SSD recommended | See SSD options → |
| DirectX | DirectX 12 Ultimate |
Why this is the meaningful jump
The gap between Minimum and Recommended isn't linear, it's roughly double the GPU horsepower. That's because 1080p-low and 1440p-high aren't adjacent settings; they're different rendering workloads (shadow resolution, draw distance, and reflection quality all scale non-linearly with resolution). See our minimum requirements breakdown for the floor this tier is jumping from.
12GB+ VRAM matters more than the GPU model name at this tier. GTA 6's texture budget, following the trend set by RDR2 and Cyberpunk 2077's later patches, is likely to punish 8GB cards at 1440p regardless of core count.
Getting there
Graphics Card
RTX 4070 / RX 7800 XT is the floor for this tier. RTX 4070 Ti Super or RX 7900 GRE gives more headroom for 1440p at max settings.
32GB RAM Kit
16GB still works, but 32GB removes any doubt, especially if you're streaming, recording, or running mods alongside the game.
8-core CPU
Ryzen 7 5800X / Core i7-12700 class or newer. Open-world titles lean on core count for NPC and traffic simulation, not just clock speed.
