Your two expansion options
Full-speed "Optimized" Xbox Series X|S games. GTA 6 included, must run from internal storage or a Storage Expansion Card. They cannot run from a standard external USB drive. This is different from PS5, and it's the single most important thing to know before you buy storage.

The Storage Expansion Card
Seagate was the original licensed manufacturer, and WD_BLACK now makes an officially licensed card too, so you have a choice of brand. It's a small card using the same custom architecture as the console's internal SSD, so games installed on it run at full native speed with no compromise. It requires no tools to install: it simply slots into the port on the back of the console. Available in 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities.

Roughly doubles a Series X's usable space, or nearly triples a Series S's, the single most effective Xbox storage upgrade available.
