How Many GB Is GTA 6?
Rockstar hasn't published an install size. Based on the last two Rockstar open-world titles and where console storage trends are headed, here's a realistic number to plan around.
How we got that number
| Title | Year | Install size |
|---|---|---|
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | 2018 (PC: 2019) | ~150 GB |
| GTA V (Enhanced) | 2013 (PC: 2015) | ~95 GB |
| GTA 6 | 2026 (PC: unconfirmed) | ~130–160 GB (predicted) |
GTA 6's map (Leonida, including a modernized Vice City) is reported to be denser and more detailed than GTA V's, with higher-resolution textures and more varied environments, all of which push install size up rather than down. RDR2's ~150GB is the closest recent comparison point, since it's the last Rockstar title built at similar scope and fidelity.
Plan your storage now
- Budget 200GB free, not just the install size, day-one patches and Rockstar's own launcher/prerequisites add overhead.
- SSD over HDD. See the minimum requirements page, an SSD is expected to be effectively required, not optional, for load times and texture streaming.
- NVMe if you're building new. Prices have dropped enough that there's little reason to buy a fresh SATA SSD in 2026 over an NVMe drive of the same capacity.
Storage that covers it
2TB NVMe SSD
Leaves headroom for a ~150GB install plus day-one patches, without having to uninstall anything else first.
1TB NVMe SSD
Enough for the game alone plus patches, the budget-friendly pick if you're not stacking it with other large titles.
